White Wonderfulness

You might think a white vase — indeed a white pottery/porcelain/ceramic anything — would be boring. You would be wrong, as is so clearly shown in these stunning numbers created by Frances Palmer. Measuring Rain

Garden Reports and Rejoicing – March 6

I am weather obsessed, but I’m not one of those people who only want sunny days. Just the opposite…I’m looking for regular clouds and (please, God) rain. As a gardener I wish for at least an inch of rain each week, delivered over a 24-hour period. And no, I don’t care if this precipitation comes overnight, on a workday, or over the weekend.

Valentine’s Day is here. Some folks love it and some folks hate it, but almost everyone must deal with it one way or another. Just like Christmas and Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day has become another holiday which essentially requires a man to spend money in some form or fashion. And everywhere you look you’re reminded about it.

All of the Valentine’s reminders have begun to take a toll on cheapskates like me. I can’t watch TV without being bombarded by Valentine’s Day commercials. Jewelry stores,
